David Marcel Katchuk of Walterboro, SC, age 63, passed away March 21, 2022 after a short illness due to complications of Coronary Artery Disease. He was born in September of 1958 to Alexander and Leitha Mae Katchuk in "South Philly", where, over time, he became the middle child of five. The family moved to Baltimore, Maryland when Dave was a child.
Described by a cousin as "terribly handsome, just like his father", Dave grew up with plenty of attention from his family, friends, and local young ladies who were all drawn to his antics, athleticism, and great smile. He excelled at sports as a youngster, fell in love with cars as a teen, and became a highly skilled brick layer as an adult. Though his path was marked with tragic events at times, he rolled with the punches and was known as a great friend, the life of any party, and someone always willing to help anyone.
In 1984, when the Colts snuck out of Baltimore, a heartbroken Dave threw his love of football into Nascar. In later years, he knew all there was to know about the sport, which you could find out by asking any question. A simple, "who drives the 24 car?" would lead to an extensive history of every owner and driver of the 24 car since the dawn of time. Plus, a history of each owner and driver, their previous cars, wrecks, wives, girlfriends, etc. He was glued to the television when a race was on and adjusted schedules to make a race the only priority. Recently while he was in the hospital, we put the bed speaker by his ear so he could hear his last Daytona Race.

Dave is survived by his wife of 8 months Ginger Katchuk, his three children; Jennifer (Mike) Burk of Harrisville, Pennsylvania, David Katchuk of Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania, and James (Allison) Katchuk of Delta, Pennsylvania. He has 8 grandchildren, all of whom he adored including Hannah and Lexi Burk, Christian and Chase Katchuk, and Landon, Abbi and Greyson Katchuk. Emmitt Katchuk is still on the way. He remained close to all of his siblings by calling them at night and talking for hours. They are Alex (Kay) Katchuk of Oakley, Utah, Michael (Sandy) Katchuk of Walterboro, SC, Lorraine Shaw of Halethorpe, Maryland, and Mark Katchuk of Walterboro, SC. He has many more friends and family members who love him and are full of amusing Dave stories. He will be sadly missed.
A celebration of life was held at his home on March 25, 2022.
