Fave Topics: Mountain hiking, exploring anywhere I've never been. Have taken over 400K pics, including several thousand designated historic sites.
Fun Fact(s): Girlfriend came along when I visited NJ in 1999; when Johann told her I once punched him in the face over a cigarette, I pretended not to remember. Also, since I'm not funny (have been told many times), have made three pics just for this section: Become Detective Schaeffer!, Roman is Everywhere!, and You've Been Warned! (Oops! Too many clicks, had to add Beyond Warnings! and Who Did This?!?)
Misc Stuff: Visited all 58 CA counties (and all 20 CA Natl Forests, most CA Natl Parks) in 2010 (didn't sleep that year.) Figure skater early 2002 to Sept 22, 2007 (amateur, non-comp.) Met qualifications for Pro Bowler's Tour, 1990's. Only once was able to tap entire dance floor on par w/ Sammy Davis, Jr. Used to be a really good fake good piano player, dunno if still am. Visited 145 CA State Parks, 160 SMMC Mountain Parks. Once did something heroic.

Why is This Section Here? I Don't Look Like That Pic Above
    Because the rest of this page is boilerplate (a template), there needs to be facility for 'other' stuff. When the site first went online, it was used on three pages: Jeanette's Guinea Pig section, Dad's obit and Mimi's eulogy. Jeanette's section remains as a good sample. Dad's obit was short enough to include in the now-standardized section for notes of that type, but Mimi's eulogy is far too long to include in the same section as Dad's obit; thus, it keeps its own section. So we are now back to three pages with this 'extra' section. If you would like to include this section on your page, you are welcome to do so; just submit title and text (and any pics and/or other materials that may be relevant.)
    And since you are here, a few quick point-outs that are scattered about elsewhere, but condensed here:

    Certainly, many of you will find features of this site that you think should be different, or have features you would like to see exist, etc. Please certainly feel free to speak up; remember, if you have something in mind that you think would make the site better for everyone, at least 99 others feel exactly the same!
    Lastly, I hope you will contribute to this site; it's a rather awesome resource now, and only you can make it better!
     Wow, not sure that I look like the person in that pic anymore!
    The pic used for the portrait was the last time I made my quarterly trek to get turned into a blonde again (and that was two years ago now...yikes!) A few days after that trip is when life changed for all of us due to Covid. So five months later, I finally got to cutting my own hair, and have been cutting it myself since. Non-blonde for the first time since Dec '99, so now am walkin' around with brown and grey hair...blah!
    Also, after pretty much not appearing in public w/out my contact lenses for about 35+ years, I finally gave in and started wearing my glasses more often (it just got too hard to read w/ my contacts); now, I haven't had my contacts in since about Summer, 2021.
    But it gets worse...pandemic, no more gym. Haven't been to the gym in two years (my gym even disappeared!), and my miniskirt-perfect legs (and hips/bod, ftm) are gone...legs no longer deep, dark brown, nor tailor-made for miniskirts. Rock-solid abs have given way to love handles, OMG! I don't recognize myself, much less the guy in the picture. Don't quite look like a weird hybrid of Andre the Giant (w/out Robin Wright by my side) and Haystacks Calhoun, but sure feel like it! Guess I should've used my camera when it counted, duh! (And can personally attest is better to spend 7+ hrs/wk at the gym than it is spending 7+ hrs/wk chomping Trader's Joe's bagels instead.)
    Severe psychological trauma aside, have done the math on time saved dealing with contact lenses: think 20m/day, every day for well over three decades; turns out the #'s are too big for a calculator. And no quarterly trips for hair (4 hrs/trip, minimum, + $$ saved)...hmm. Guy who does my hair (Steve, who took that portrait pic of me), isn't overly pleased that I haven't shown up for two years...
    Summer needs to get here! More hiking needed!
